Tailored professional learning... it works!
Wednesday 9 September 2020 7-8pm AEST
Join Monica St Baker, a Commbank Teaching award winner, as she shares how Hanwood Public school under her leadership, has introduced a unique form of teacher professional learning. The experts come into the school setting so all teachers access quality professional learning that is then transferred to classroom practice, with the experts as mentors. This has re-engaged students and re-energised teachers.
We now know what we do not know! This is the premise of metacognition. Teachers work a point of need within their own learning, teaching experience and current knowledge base.
Teachers now drive their learning, based on student needs, teacher knowledge and the school's strategic directions. Our focus over the last few years has been predominantly on English, with Maths and Gifted and Talented practices.
